The European Food Safety Authority (EFSA), a cornerstone of food safety in the European Union, has selected MARCO to support its engagement and community management services. MARCO ranked first among 18 bidders in the institution’s tender process and has been awarded a four year framework contract aimed at strengthening structured dialogue with stakeholders and supporting transparent and effective interaction at the intersection of science, policy, and society.
The collaboration also extends to the European Chemicals Agency (ECHA), the European Environment Agency (EEA), and the European Medicines Agency (EMA).
MARCO will work alongside these agencies to support the design and implementation of engagement activities that facilitate dialogue with a wide range of audiences. This will include strategic engagement consultancy and operational support throughout the different stages of the process, from stakeholder analysis and participatory activities to community management, user research, and the organization and reporting of meetings and events in online, hybrid, and in person formats.
EFSA plays a central role in protecting food safety across the European Union and supporting evidence based decision making, which underpins public trust. To achieve this, it provides independent scientific advice and clear communication on existing and emerging risks throughout the food chain, from farm to fork. The authority works closely with policymakers, regulatory partners, stakeholders, and consumers to strengthen evidence based decision making and confidence in the European food safety system.
Didier Lagae, Founder and Executive Chairman of MARCO, said: “It is a significant challenge and responsibility to support EFSA’s leadership by translating scientific and regulatory work into engagement initiatives that are meaningful, credible, and capable of generating a positive impact on citizens’ lives. We are also pleased to have been entrusted with this collaboration, which additionally involves ECHA, EEA, and EMA, and reflects the continuity of MARCO’s work in complex public interest environments, as well as our strong reputation and expertise in European affairs.”
This award adds to MARCO’s extensive track record of working with European institutions and regulatory bodies, further reinforcing its role as a strategic partner in engagement and communication services for the public sector.
