MARCO, the international communication agency, has been nominated as a finalist in the ‘Best Consultancy of the Year in Southern Europe’ category at the prestigious SABRE Awards. The other finalists are Appletree Communications, Atrevia, Evercom and INC. Last year, MARCO won the award for the Best Agency in Iberia, and has this time positioned itself among the best in Southern Europe. In addition, it has been nominated in three other categories for its campaigns with Subway, B the travel brand and TaxDown.
The prestigious SABRE Awards EMEA have announced the virtual awards ceremony will take place on 30 June and the winners of some of the best campaigns last year will be announced from among the more than 600 participants.
MARCO’s nomination for ‘Best Consultancy of the Year in Southern Europe’ is thanks to its excellent performance during 2019. Only recently, The Holmes Report, known from this year as PRovoke, confirmed the agency as the fourth Spanish consultancy in the overall global ranking of the 250 most important public relations agencies worldwide. Additionally, in terms of growth, MARCO came out on top amongst the Spanish agencies. The MARCO Group’s expansion was also consolidated as it opened a new office in Brazil last year, adding to those already established in LATAM in Mexico, Colombia and Peru.
MARCO has also strengthened its position as an agency with expertise in sustainability and environmental communications. This feature of the company is highly integrated throughout the MARCO Group and reinforced by the fact that its CEO and founder, Didier Lagae, is also a recognised Climate Leader for The Climate Reality Project. In collaboration with the leading climate organisation, MARCO launched a series of conferences at COP25 together with its clients Kaiserwetter and Share Now. Meanwhile, Didier Lagae was also recognised as European and Global PR Professional of the Year 2019 by the PRWeek and Stevie Awards, respectively. These awards came in the context of the publication of his book, ‘A Country Brand, a Branded Country’, which also highlights the agency’s extensive experience creating country brands.
MARCO’s nomination as an agency is accompanied by three other nominations for specific campaigns carried out for its clients Subway, B the travel brand and TaxDown, which have been nominated for the categories ‘Digital Campaign’, ‘Travel & Tourism’ and ‘Iberia’, respectively.
MARCO developed an awareness campaign for Subway to connect with consumers and share brand values by taking advantage of Pride 2019. It also developed the communication strategy for the first B the travel brand film season, organised in collaboration with the Spanish Film Academy Foundation. The Foundation’s objective was to take Goya award-winning films to every corner of Spain. Lastly, the launch and reputation building campaign for TaxDown, was carried out to coincide with last year’s income tax registration period. Other highlights leading to MARCO’s nomination include the campaign developed to position the World Water Council as the leading voice on water security and resources, as well as the campaign developed for Conforama, the furniture retail chain, to underline the brand’s links with activeness and exercise, and finally, work carried out for the European Union Intellectual Property Office (EUIPO) to highlight the value of intellectual property.
Didier Lagae, MARCO’s CEO and founder, stated: “I am very proud of these nominations as they demonstrate the result of the excellent work performed throughout the past year. I would like to thank our clients for the support and trust they have invested in us to develop these incredible campaigns, and to the more than 130 consultants in MARCO’s 10 offices, because without them it would not be possible”.
